Welcome to The Happy Dog Journal™️ by Freya V. Locke.
The weekly FREE section of our newsletter, for you and your dog, from Freya V. Locke.
Hi Gang
With Christmas now a distant memory and the New Year officially begun, our attention turns to new beginnings and fresh starts.
So New Year, new section.
You may have noticed the new logo!
It’s actually not quite new, but I wanted a way to help you navigate which posts would be FREE to read and which were not without having to click into posts each time to find out.
Club members like to be able to see their weekly video posts quickly too, so I’m creating this section of my FVL-DAB newsletter to make things easy and clear for everyone!
The Happy Dog Journal™️ is something I started over at Medium a while back to make the dog posts I write over there easier to find. I figure that I can use the same method over here at Substack. Now you can find The Happy Dog Journal™️right in the menu - let me know what you think.
Fun Not Fear® Ethical, Effective, Reward-Based Ways for Teaching Dogs Happiness.
Fun Not Fear® reward-based training is a powerful, ethical, easy approach for shaping cues and behaviour. It uses positive reinforcement to encourage desired actions, and we make it as easy as possible for both dog and dogparent to learn using our games and analogies while taking out any fear or aversion-based nonsense.

Dear Fans,
My dogparents and I would like to wish you all the very best in 2025.
I, of course, will remain an incredibly good girl.
I also have exciting news! This year will bring the first of my books for children, all about being the best human for their dog! I will begin by teaching you how to understand us when we talk to you!
That’s right! We dogs can talk too … with our bodies!
Snugs and hugs,
Twyla xx
Spotted and sharing:
Chris Packham and Caroline Lucas Resign From The RSPCA.
While not entirely dog-related, this is very much animal-related, and while, as a Vegan, I am not shocked to hear about the RSPCA Assured Scheme being a farce, I am saddened to think that one of the most respected charities in animal welfare is not doing more for animal welfare. Especially when it has been called out on it repeatedly.
The RSPCA does some good work and has helped many animals, but I fear there is a lot more they could do to help some animals.

My other posts - because I write about other stuff too!

Fun Not Fear® Club Wednesday live will start again next week! If any of our members have questions for me to answer about their dogs during the recording, you can send me a chat message and I will get the answers for you!
Well that is it for this week,
Warm ‘n’ Fuzzies,
Freya xx
