The Happy Dog Journal™️
The FREE weekly newsletter for you and your dog from Freya V. Locke.
Hi Gang
It’s been a rather busy few weeks here at Locke Towers. In addition to teaching you and your dogs to have a fantastic life together, in an attempt to counteract the feast/famine work cycle that often accompanies dog training at various points throughout the year, I’ve also been teaching TEFL. My diary is currently crammed while I have been navigating the two jobs and settling back into a pattern where I can offer regular hours without becoming double booked.
This has meant that my dog behaviour training days have now been reduced to Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 14.00 - 21.00, instead of the five days a week that I previously offered. Booking will still operate as usual through your confirmation emails. In doing this, I have not had to raise my 121 prices, as many other trainers have recently. In fact, the income I get from TEFL means that I LOWERED my dog behaviour 121 prices AND added an extra session to packages, too! So, while you do have fewer hours to choose your sessions from, your sessions will be cheaper and offer you more value per package, too.
I also offer dog sitting services for the spiciest or anxious dogs who can’t be left with the average dog sitter.
Spotted and sharing.
Are clickers just for dogs? I don’t think so …
Clickers are a great tool for teaching dogs using reward-based and Fun Not Fear® methods. When used correctly, they pinpoint the exact moment a dog has done something right, and the noise of the click is far more audible to the dog than our verbal chatter. So when the dog has previously been taught that the click means a reward is coming, and they then hear the click each time they perform a desired action, the click not only lets the dog know they have done something right and that a reward is coming, it also starts to act as a reward in itself. A secondary reward.
On Wednesday, I will teach you how to clicker train your dog in the Fun Not Fear® Club.
I know for a fact that reward-based training works on ANY sentient animal. So what about teaching surgeons their craft using clickers?

Have a great week! And I’ll see you clubbers on Wednesday.
