The Happy Dog Journal™️
The FREE weekly newsletter for you and your dog from Freya V. Locke.
Hi Gang
This weekend, I am coming to you from the home of two of my dogsitting clients, and we are all enjoying the slightly milder weather.
It is days like today, with a bit of sunshine peeking through and the temperature warm enough to be comfortable outside, that remind us that Spring is on the way. The darker months are behind us, and light evenings lay ahead.
The warmer, lighter weather ahead leads us to think of places to go with the dogs.
Many local beaches allow dogs this time of year when they do not at other times, so it is good to check them out and see if you can get a special day out with your floofer. As always, stay safe and supervise your dog near the water.
Lots of National Trust sites allow dogs, and membership is very reasonable at less than £8 a month, which grants you access to all of their many sites across the whole of England.
In Newmarket, we are very lucky to be surrounded by heaths owned and managed by the Jockey Club. While I might not agree with the horseracing so much, I appreciate that the Jockey Club maintains these beautiful areas that we are allowed to access after 1 pm on non-racing days. Heaths are great for dogs who like to have a bit of space from triggers while being able to see them in the distance. Perfect for desensitisation purposes!
Spotted and sharing.
While we know that dogs do not have a concept of “naughty” we also know that some dogs are prone to get up to shenanigans more than others. This story made me smile.
